Gayle
Sovinee is a holistic health practitioner, doing professional
body work since 1989.
Her
business name, Holistic Symmetry, means balancing the whole person (body,
mind and spirit), and this is exactly what Gayle focuses on in her work.
Gayle Sovinee specializes in craniosacral therapy/somato emotional
release, massage therapy and stress management and offers services in
lymph drainage therapy, visceral manipulation and chakra balancing.
Gayle is also working on her studies to become a Master Herbalist through
The Clayton College of Natural Health.
Gayle received her basic training at Body Mind College in 1989. She continued her studies at the School
of Healing Arts, receiving her certification as a Holistic Health Practitioner and completing over one thousand hours
of education.
In November 1993, Gayle received her National Certification from the Board For Therapeutic Massage &
Bodywork.
Since 1989 Gayle has been the head of Holistic Symmetry, specializing in the health
of both body and mind. In addition to her private clientele, Gayle has
serviced government agencies, financial institutions, hospitals, airlines
and senior centers. She subcontracts with local chiropractors, physical therapists, doctors,
psychologists and several
health care facilities.
Gayle has been an active member of several Chambers of Commerce. She was founder and president of the San Diego Tri-chamber Health Advisory Committee, a
group formed to educate and promote health awareness in the community.
With Gayle’s recent move to Asheville, North Carolina, she has
volunteered her services to several local community groups.
Since 1992 Gayle has been a member of the Associated Bodywork & Massage Professionals
organization, a national group that provides policy and procedures, insurance, and
referrals to its members. She is also a member of
the International Association of Healthcare Practitioners. National
Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork approved
Gayle as a continuing education Approved Provider.
Based
on fifteen years as a student, teaching assistant and teacher of cranial
sacral work, in 2007 Gayle created a series of classes called Cranial
Sacral, the InBalance Series. The first two levels focus on
structural balance, and the second two levels focus on emotional balance.
The National Certification Board of Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork
approved Gayle as a Continuing Education Approved Provider to teach the
series.
Starting
in 2008, Gayle will be teaching two continuing education classes at the
Center for Massage and Natural Health in North Asheville.
One is Craniosacral Bodywork Therapy and the other is Lymph Massage
Therapy.
Gayle is still actively involved with Helios, Veterans
Complementary Health Care Program. This is a free clinic for
Veterans and their immediate families offering services from holistic
practitioners in all areas of wellness. The clinic meets at Starting
Point Internal Cleansing Center each month on Sundays from 1-6pm.
The program was created back in February of 2007 by Gayle, and Deborah
Nixon of Starting Point and the doors first opened on October 1st.
The public interest in the program has rapidly increased.
